Licensee & Exercise Scientist

Matthew's journey into the realm of fitness began during his college years, where he found a passion for personal health and physical well-being. As he progressed through his education, he recognised the transformative power of exercise on both the body and mind. This led him to pursue a formal education in the field, starting with a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Canberra, where he excelled academically with a WAM of 76/100 and a GPA of 5.6/7.0.

Driven to further his expertise, Matthew achieved several certifications, including becoming a Qualified Personal Trainer with FITREC and a Certified Functional Strength Coach. His commitment to continuous learning culminated in his enrolment in the Master of Human Nutrition program at Deakin University, where he is expected to graduate in November 2025.

Matthew's practical experience is extensive, with roles at prominent fitness centres such as Next Gen Canberra and UC Fit. At these establishments, he developed and tailored fitness programs, conducted physical assessments, and provided clients with guidance on achieving their fitness goals safely and effectively. His ability to promote personal training services and maintain a high standard of cleanliness and safety on the gym floor underscored his dedication to the profession.

His career also includes notable internships, such as his role as a Physical Performance Coach at Tennis Australia ACT, where he assisted in designing and implementing strength and conditioning programs for national athletes. Additionally, as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Radford College, he contributed to the athletic development of youth athletes through well-structured training regimens.

With a comprehensive understanding of exercise science and a commitment to evidence-based practices, Matthew joined Evidence Based Motion in 2024. As a licensee, he brings his wealth of knowledge and passion for fitness to the forefront, aiming to help individuals achieve their health and wellness goals through personalised, scientifically-backed training programs.
